Hi there,
The other day I had to spend an hour unraveling a knitting project. It was a lovely lacey wrap, very easy to work on and I was almost done with it. So why did I undo all my work? Well I made a critical miscalculation when I started that left me short of yarn at the end. If the wrap had been for one of my young nieces it would have been perfect, but for me it was about 12 inches too short.
Now I'm not a novice when it comes to knitting. I know how to design a pattern and figure out how much yarn I will need and all that. This time, however, I took a chance on having enough, I was wrong. So when I had to take it all apart I started to think where in my business might I have made a similar error.
This is a very intersting exercise to try. Here is what I have done.
1. Listed out all the projects I want to complete
2. Estimated the investment required to complete; time and money
3. Projected the cost of each project
4. Established a timeline for each project
5. Identified potential collaborators, partners, affiliates for each project
6. Review and prioritize
7. Scrap any project that doesn't make the hair on the back of my neck stand up
(that means I'm not really into it and why waste my time and energy)
So, back to my knitting project; I'm ready to start again. I don't have any more yarn than I did the first time. What I do have is experience and knowledge. I know that the yarn I have will make a lovely wrap that will be narrower but much longer! I guarantee it will be beautiful and suit me to a "T" this time.
Cheers,
Coach Linda B
